Ingredients Required:
Little Millet / Saamai – ½ Cup
Moong dal – ¼ Cup
Jaggery – 1 Cup
Coconut Milk – 1Cup
Cashew nuts – 10-12
Raisin – 10-12
Cardamom Powder – ¼ tsp
Ghee – 2 tsp
Grated Coconut – ¼ Cup
Note: You can also use boiled milk instead of coconut milk
Preparation:
- First Pressure cook Little millet and moong dal along with 2 cups of water for 3 whistles or cook in a pan with the lid closed for 10-15 mins.
- Meanwhile dissolve the jaggery in ½ cup of water and filter it with a strainer to remove all its impurities.
- Take a thick bottomed pan and add the cooked millet and dal along with the jaggery and cook in medium flame for 5 mins.
- Once the above three ingredients start blending along, Simmer add 1 cup of coconut milk to it and cook for 10 mins.
- Now add the grated coconut and cardamom powder and cook for 2 mins to enhance the taste and give your dish a wonderful aroma.
- Take a small fry pan and add ghee to it. Roast the cashews and raisins in ghee.
- Add them to the cooked millet and enjoy tasty Payasam.
- Serve hot for best taste.
