Ingredients:
Kuthiraivali Aval/ Barnyard millet Flakes – 2 cups
Water – ½ cup
Grated coconut – ½ cup
Salt – As per requirement
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Chana dal – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – ¼ tbsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Green chilli – 1 finely chopped
Oil – For tempering

Preparation:
- Take 2 cups of kuthiraivali Aval / barnyard millet flakes, rinse in normal water and drain the water immediately.
- Heat a pan with oil and temper with Mustard, Urad dal, Chana dal, Green chilli and Curry Leaves. Add 1/2 cup water, salt and bring to boil.
- Add the aval /flakes and mix well. cook till all water gets absorbed and the mixture resembles upma. Will take 2 minutes approximately.
- Switch off the stove and add grated coconut and mix well and cool down.
- Grease an idli plate or a steamer of your choice and make kozhukattai out of the aval mixture and steam it for 5 minutes.
Note:
- Use coconut oil for tempering, it will give a good aroma and flavour.
- Grease hands with oil when shaping the Kozhukattai / Dumplings.
